Mr. Jones

Mr Jones, on his own was a serious man
but life betrayed him good
He got wronged all along and he tried being strong
in the end he couldnt go along

At last he just refrained, stayed out of the way
wandering planlesly arouynd
he stayed inside in his house for many years
kept the curtains always down

His sould would fly to the light
feel no hurt feel no fright
he’d fly away
Alone out of time great plans grew in his mind
but his faith had left him on the way
plans where shredded each time he would sketch them at night
despair and solitude grew on

every second grew sore, not to mention plainly bored
he decided he couldnt go along
he put a rope round a raft, and he was getting at it
the last straw was finally drawn

His sould would fly…

He decided to go, one last time take a stroll
for years never picked up the post
he dressed up real nice, had a shave and wore a tie
and at last he would open the door

All the neighbouyrs they ran to meet this fine man
that they never encountered before
they’d invite him to tea, so eager to see
what they never seen before

the post still had his mail, the stamps were grey of age
his aunt died and left him a horse
and a girl far away had wrote him every day
since she dumped him filed with remorse

His sould would fly…

In awe of luck that followed him, all the years along
but now it had gone
his final thought
in vain it was, the gallow he had made
he went away
